My name is Fiona and I was abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the Spring of 2026 (or the fall semester in Argentina). As my first time living in a city, I was excited to experience a pace of life that was entirely new to me and have the opportunity to try activities that had never been so easy to access. I learned how to dance tango, started going to calisthenics classes, and got involved in the acrobatic/circus scenes in the city. A definite highlight of the semester was my host family, who made family dinner the best part of each day and welcomed me with the warmest arms upon arrival. I feel especially grateful for the challenge of Middlebury’s language immersion for forcing me to stay consistent with the goal of improving my fluency in Spanish, which gave even the lows a special feeling of purpose and helped me gain a lot of resilience. I can’t recommend Argentina enough for those wanting an academic and language challenge while living in one of the most vibrant cities in the world and being surrounded by the warmest people!
