Drew received an MA in teaching English as a Second Language from the Middlebury Institute in Monterey. Prior to that he graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2016 with a dual BA in East Asian Studies and International Studies. 

He first studied in China at the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Study at Tsinghua University in the summer of 2014, then as a Fulbright Hays GPA Fellow in the summer of 2015. Drew completed his capstone year with the Chinese Language Flagship attending Nanjing University, then later interned with Indiana University’s China Gateway Office. Drew also spent a year serving as Resident Advisor at Associated Colleges in China, and served a summer as Resident Director for the NSLI-Y high school summer language program in Xi’an. He was the Asst. Director for Middlebury’s program in Hangzhou from 2017 until the program was closed for the COVID pandemic in 2020. When China opened up in 2023, he returned to Beijing as CET Academic Programs’ Resident Director in Beijing before rejoining the Middlebury program in 2026.

Drew enjoys hiking, starting of the day early with a run, reading, and learning about international education.
