Eri earned her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Human Sciences from Waseda University in Japan. During her master’s study, she studied abroad in Berlin, Germany, where she developed her interest in Japanese language education. After receiving her M.A., Eri taught Japanese at universities in South Korea, Germany, and the United States for a total of ten years. During her doctoral studies, she worked as a visiting scholar at the Ohio State University, where she conducted longitudinal case studies on the learning processes of Japanese language learners. She also has been supporting students’ learning as an educational coach in the correspondence courses of the School of Human Sciences at Waseda University since 2012. Eri joined the Middlebury School in Japan in the summer of 2024.
