Juan is Professor of Writing in the Journalism program at Adolfo Ibañez University in Viña del Mar, Chile.  He also teaches both a course and a workshop in Communication in the Public Administration Master’s program at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV). He has also worked for the Middlebury program in Chile since its beginnings as professor of the Writing for Linguistic and Cultural Competence course. He is a Spanish Teacher and Journalist from Playa Ancha University, where he began his academic career. He has obtained an M.A. in Communications from PUCV, and has studied at SUNY-Plattsburgh and McGill University, as well. Critical discourse analysis, transnationalism and hegemony are among Juan’s academic interests.
