I had such an incredible time studying in Paris. I lived with a very kind French host mother (and her cat), and the experience not only helped me with my French but also to understand more about French society. Our dinners are some of my favorite memories of my time abroad. I also got a lot out of my classes, both with Middlebury and at Université Paris-Cité, where I took courses on territorial development and urban ecology.
It had been my dream to visit Paris since I was little, so getting to live in the city for a whole semester was amazing! Being in the city for so long allowed me to explore well beyond the typical tourist spots and truly find my space in the big city. In Paris, there are a wealth of museums, monuments, parks, and palaces to visit on any given afternoon. But in addition to this, one of my favorite things about living in the city was exploring new neighborhoods while also building up a list of favorite cafés, bakeries, and restaurants in my own neighborhood.
If you’re considering Paris, I could not recommend it more. I loved the experience of living in such an exciting, diverse city, making new friends, and gaining confidence in my French and myself.
