Studying abroad in Oxford was a very fulfilling experience for me. My tutorials pushed me way beyond my comfort zone and built my intellectual confidence in ways I could not have imagined. My nineteenth-century English literature tutorial showed me how quickly I could read a novel and write an essay on it, and my second tutorial on writing narratives helped me find and strengthen my creative voice. My time at Oxford was an intellectual awakening for me: I really fell in love with learning and was introduced to countless books, ideas, and conversations I never had before, all in such an awe-inspiring city. Walking around Oxford and knowing authors like Oscar Wilde, Percy Shelley, JRR Tolkien, etc. also walked those same streets was mind-blowing and totally inspiring. As an English major and coffee lover, I also loved all the cafes, book stores, and libraries the city had to offer. I also got to play lots of field hockey, meet some really cool people, eat lots of fish and chips, and discover many pubs!
