Given the recent changes in outbreaks and the UK government’s advice, we have decided to suspend the Middlebury-CMRS Oxford Program for this semester, effective at the end of this week. The situation in Oxford is similar to the situation in Middlebury in terms of student housing and common spaces.  We are concerned about our ability to maintain a healthy environment at St. Michael’s Hall if one of you were to get sick.  We expect that this news will be disappointing, but please know the decision was not made lightly.

We ask that you begin immediately to make flight changes in order to move out of St. Michael’s Hall to fly home by the end of March 15. Our experience suspending programs in China and Italy leads us to believe airlines might waive change fees and penalties for rebooking flights, as they did then. However, if you are asked to pay rebooking fees, Middlebury will cover the cost. If you need to be reimbursed for an airline change fee, please let Stacey Thebodo know no later than March 20. Please also note that you are not allowed to return to the Middlebury College campus.

We are making arrangements for you to complete your seminar and research project remotely so that you may earn a full semester’s credit. M-CMRS staff will be in touch with further details in the next few days.
