Amira Burtch

Amira graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 with a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic. Having grown up in the MENA, she was eager to deepen her knowledge of the language, history, and culture of the region she was surrounded by in her childhood. While at university, she interned for the U.S. Embassy in Algiers and conducted research on governance and corruption for Innovations for Peace and Development. After finishing her BA, she was afforded the opportunity to complete a fellowship at the American University in Cairo, where she had one of the best years of her life reconnecting with the city in which she was born. She’s eager to help younger Arabic learners fall in love with the language, culture, and people she loves so much and help them navigate the challenges and joys of cross-cultural life. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, reading, and exploring new cities.
