Vinita earned her first Master’s degree in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and a second master’s in Environmental Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Vinita has worked for many years in the field of International education and has extensive experience in higher education management.

Prior to becoming the Director of the School in India, Vinita worked at the US-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) as Senior Program Officer, managing and administering the Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright grants for U.S. scholars and students in India. She previously worked for the India office of the Institute of International Education (IIE) where she was responsible for IIE’s priority programs with private foundations in the field of education and leadership development. She administered programs sponsored by Ford Foundation, Goldman Sachs Foundation, Hewlett Foundation and the Packard Foundation to name a few. While at IIE she also managed the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) scholarship programs. During her early career,  she worked for Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, a bi-lateral organization of the Governments of India and Canada, where she managed research and development programs. Vinita has also worked at the V. V. Giri National Labor Institute on their Labor History Project and digital archiving program.
