Having completed her Ph.D. from the University of York, United Kingdom Amani Al-Serhan has returned to the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Jordan as Assistant Professor. She currently teaches MA modules on women in culture and literature, women in mass media and communication, social theory, and contemporary issues in women’s studies. She also teaches a BA module on the introduction to women’s studies. Her main research interests center around the following themes: gender and culture in Arab and Muslim societies, Arab and Islamic feminisms, literary and cultural studies, feminist literary analysis, postcolonial feminist theory, and feminist and gender theory. She is also a founding member of ANNA HUNNA International Women and Work Association aiming towards the economic empowerment of women in the MENA region.
