Speakers of Russian can study in Kazakhstan, where Russian is an official language. А leader in the fields of economics, innovation, education, and international business in the post-Soviet space, Kazakhstan is in a period of dynamic development while striving to preserve its national flavor, history, and rich culture. Students on our program can choose to study in the capital Astana or the southern city of Almaty.

Students of Russian have the chance to study in Almaty or Astana, Kazakhstan.

Almaty: Students will take Russian language courses and Middlebury-organized electives designed for language learners at Abai University, with the chance to take mainstream courses alongside Kazakhstani students. 

Astana: Students will take Russian language courses and Middlebury-organized electives designed for language learners at Nazarbayev University, with the chance to take mainstream courses alongside Kazakhstani students at Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) or Eurasian National University (ENU). All coursework will be in Russian under the Middlebury Language Pledge.

The School in Russia’s sites in Irkutsk, Moscow, and Yaroslavl, are currently suspended.
