Counselor Information

We appreciate counselors’ support and guidance of students during their high school years, including through the college search and application process.
These Middlebury resources will be useful in your ongoing work with students who might find success and opportunity at Middlebury.
Middlebury’s Admissions Process
Our Philosophy
Middlebury reviews applications holistically, taking into account many factors, including academic achievement, potential for contributions to the Middlebury community, and engagement with concepts core to Middlebury’s mission. Our evaluations emphasize academic record, rigor of classes, activities and responsibilities, and the personal essay.
Middlebury Meets 100 Percent of Financial Need
Middlebury continues to be one of few colleges in the nation that are need blind for all domestic applicants. We also guarantee that we will meet admitted students’ full demonstrated financial need. Students should explore our Quick College Cost Estimator and our affordability resources.
Fee waivers are available for the Common Application and Coalition Application and automatically apply in the QuestBridge application.

We ask for midyear reports (midterm or progress grades) as soon as they are finalized, ideally by February 1.
Slate
Middlebury uses Slate.org to facilitate the admissions process. Create an account at Slate.org and click on the registration link on the top toolbar. You may be preapproved for a Slate.org account if you have submitted school report data through the Common App. Use Slate to view application checklists, upload documents, and see released admissions decisions. (You will not see an admissions decision until you have viewed the decision via the Middlebury portal.)
QuestBridge
Middlebury is proud to partner with QuestBridge. The QuestBridge National College Match helps high-achieving, low-income high school seniors gain admission and a full four-year financial aid package to some of the nation’s most selective colleges.
