Prof. Spatafora shares three decades of results studying Streptococcus mutans, the causative agent of dental caries
| by Dave Allen
Earlier this month Professor Grace Spatafora presented at the Mark Wilson Conference — a meeting of the Oral Microbiology and Immunology Research group — in Cabo, San Lucas, Mexico. In the presentation Prof. Spatafora synthesized results from her many years of work on translational approaches to alleviate dental caries. Her lab studies how the protein SloR regulates virulence in Streptococcus mutans, which is the principal causative agent of dental caries. In the talk she identifies small molecule candidates that could interact with SloR to potentially prevent caries. Here is a video of the talk so we can all learn more about Prof. Spatafora’s exciting work!
