Broadly speaking, the Student Advisory Council will bring student concerns to the department, and advise the English Department faculty on the student perspective regarding any and all aspects of the major.
The council is comprised of three seats, one for each class (sophomore, junior, and senior), which are open to any English major. Student volunteers are chosen based on two criteria, in order of priority as follows:
- The council must include one member of each class.
- Volunteers are selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A call for new members will occur each year in January, and the new term will begin in February. This schedule gives sophomores in particular a chance to orient themselves in the major before joining.
