The Spanish House

In the Perkins House (122 Hillcrest Road), there are 10 singles that house nine students plus an assistant in language. Students pledge to speak only Spanish in the house and are also required to host a number of activities and gatherings. The application period for the coming academic year occurs annually in February. Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are welcome to apply. At the Spanish House, students prepare the dough for making churros, a popular dessert shared by several former or present-day Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries—from Spain and Portugal to Cuba, Chile, Brazil, and the Philippines.

The Portuguese House

The Portuguese House (236 College Street) has room for two students and an assistant in language. Residents pledge to speak only Portuguese in the house. The Portuguese House hosts numerous activities throughout the year, including screenings, cafezinhos, presentations, dinners, and parties. The application period for the house opens annually in February, and rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to apply. All rooms in the Portuguese House have been filled for the 2025-2026 academic year. Those taking Portuguese frequently gather together at the house to watch movies and sports events, play games, cook, and share a delicious spread of home-cooked Brazilian and Portuguese dishes.
