Although students do not register for courses until they arrive in Puerto Rico, course information is available on each university’s website.

With few exceptions, courses are taught in Spanish. In addition to three university courses and an internship (or four university courses), students are required to take Writing for Linguistic and Cultural Competence during their first term of study in Puerto Rico.

Students in Mayagüez have the option to enroll in a specialized track in Museum Studies and Art Theory

Universidad del Sagrado Corazón

Located in the Santurce neighborhood of San Juan, the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón is the oldest private educational institution in Puerto Rico. With an undergraduate enrollment of about 4,000 students, its small campus harbors a tight-knit community and the mission of the university centers around social responsibility. Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus

Río Piedras, in the San Juan metro area, is known as “University City” because of the presence of the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras (also called UPRRP or “La IUPI”). Enrolling 12,000 students, this campus is the largest in the University of Puerto Rico system, and the oldest higher learning institution in the Caribbean.

Universidad de Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (RUM)

The second-largest university campus in the University of Puerto Rico system, the Mayagüez campus offers programs in business, engineering, agriculture, arts, and sciences and enrolls 12,000 students. Considered the unofficial capital of the west, the city of Mayagüez is situated in the center of the western coast of Puerto Rico.
