Students will register for their courses prior to arriving in Puerto Rico.  Semester-specific course information will be available on each university’s website during the last month of the preceding semester, while general course information is available on each university’s website.

With few exceptions, courses are taught in Spanish. In addition to four university courses (or three university courses and an internship), students are required to take Writing for Linguistic and Cultural Competence during their first term of study in Puerto Rico.

Students in Mayagüez have the option to enroll in a specialized track in Museum Studies and Art Theory. Students at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus have the option of enrolling in the Afro-Diasporic and Racial Studies Track or the Sustainability and Eco-Justice Track

Universidad del Sagrado Corazón

Located in the Santurce neighborhood of San Juan, the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón is the oldest private educational institution in Puerto Rico. With an undergraduate enrollment of about 4,000 students, its small campus harbors a tight-knit community and the mission of the university centers around social responsibility. Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus

Río Piedras, in the San Juan metro area, is known as “University City” because of the presence of the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras (also called UPRRP or “La IUPI”). Enrolling 12,000 students, this campus is the largest in the University of Puerto Rico system, and the oldest higher learning institution in the Caribbean. 

To view available courses, select the Escuela or Facultad where you would like to study. From there, select your department of interest either from the “Departamentos” drop-down or “Academia” drop-down. 

Universidad de Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (RUM)

The second-largest university campus in the University of Puerto Rico system, the Mayagüez campus offers programs in business, engineering, agriculture, arts, and sciences and enrolls 12,000 students. Considered the unofficial capital of the west, the city of Mayagüez is situated in the center of the western coast of Puerto Rico.
