About the Visual Resources Collection

The Visual Resources Collection operates within the Department of History of Art and Architecture, and the Studio Arts Program. We also serve the campus at large, facilitating access to the College’s extensive collection of 175,000 35mm slides, the College Museum's several thousand objects ranging from antiquities to contemporary art, plus facilitated access to millions of digital art images from digital archives across the globe.

Our mission is to promote accessibility for teaching and scholarship in the arts; and to support the integration of the arts into your curriculum, research, or special projects through the generation and management of rich visual teaching material from the Middlebury College Museum of Art and the Visual Resources Collection. We also provide training and support for faculty, students, and staff in advanced searching methods of both digital and physical collections, online and on campus.
