Community Music
There are several opportunities for students, faculty, and community members to share traditional music together.
Middlebury Shape Note
Middlebury Shape-Note Singers meet on the second Sunday of every month, 1:00 to 3:00 PM, in Mitchell Greene Lounge, McCullough Student Center. We sing America’s oldest music, now sung around the world, traditional early American songs, anthems, and hymns - A Capella, in four-part harmony - from the Sacred Harp Song Book. Loaner books available. All welcome. For more information, please contact David Rosenberg, rosenber@middlebury.edu.
Scottish and Irish Sessions
Informal and often impromptu Scottish & Irish sessions occasionally take place on campus. Please contact Timothy Cummings for more information.
Scottish Fiddle
There are also monthly Scottish fiddle sessions being hosted by the Champlain Valley Scottish Fiddle Club, on the first Sundays of each month, beginning 2 PM. More information, as well as their repertoire list, can be found on their website.
