Chiyo Mori has always been passionate about language teaching and learning, following her grandfather’s footsteps as a medical translator and an English literature professor. In her teaching at MIIS, Professor Mori focuses on training students to acquire self-discipline so that they can be as efficient and effective in preparing themselves for future assignments as professional linguists.

Before coming to MIIS to pursue MA in Conference Interpretation, she taught academic English courses and did research on sociolinguistics for almost 10 years. She was born in Japan and has lived in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, and the United States. Her specialization includes automobile, engineering, insurance, market research, and patent.

Areas of Interest

In her free time, she can be found together with her daughter on hiking trails, ski slopes, parks, and beaches.
