Middlebury Institute Faculty, Staff, and Students:

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, February 17, we will take the first step in gradually re-opening a small outdoor portion of campus.  Eight tables will be available for 1:1 meetings between student/student, student/faculty, or student/staff.  All meetings between faculty and staff will remain remote.  Five tables are located on the closed portion of Pierce Street and three are located in the parking lot behind the Lara-Soto Adobe.  Use of the tables will be monitored by Campus Security and the following protocols will be in place.

  • Sign-up will be required via the sign-up sheet.
  • Reservations are available in Monday – Friday between 8AM – 6PM in 1 hour & 50-minute increments.
  • Reservations must be made no later than the day before.  No day-of reservations.
  • Maximum of 2 reservations per person per day.
  • Two people per table, in designated seats, following social distancing and wearing of masks.
  • If you are ill, do not come to campus.
  • All individuals who sign up to use the tables will be required to wear an ID lanyard to identify they are authorized to be on campus.  Security will provide to individuals at each table upon arrival for their reservation.  Please keep these lanyards and bring them back to campus with you for future table reservations.  Lanyards should only be worn during approved reserved time on campus.
  • ID cards are required.  If you do not have an ID card, they can be requested by:
    • Uploading a photo to the directory.  Be sure to log in with your Middlebury.edu e-mail address and then click “Upload Photo” at the top of the webpage.
    • E-mailing security@middlebury.edu your name, student ID number, and best e-mail address.

Security will make your ID card and notify you when it’s ready for pick-up.  ID cards must be in hand at least 24 hours before any table reservations.

  • Disinfecting wipes will available in each area.  Please wipe down the seating area after use and before you depart.
  • In the event of rain, all individuals must depart campus, continuing to social distance.
  • No eating/food or alcoholic beverages.
  • The Samson Student Center restrooms are available for use for those using the reserved tables.

We will continue to explore ways to provide on-campus opportunities for increased interaction, while still complying with COVID protocols.  I am happy to answer any questions you might have.
