Campus Notes

In an effort to minimize possible transmission of COVID-19 among those living in residential housing, current residents who left Munras Housing over the winter break and students who are new to Munras housing, regardless of vaccination status, must: (1) provide proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test (also known as a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT)), taken within 72 hours of their arrival (24 hours before departure for those returning from outside of the U.S.); (2) take a rapid COVID-19 test at arrival; and (3) take a PCR COVID-19 test four days after arrival. Antigen testing is not a NAAT and is not considered a valid pre-arrival test.

Please note the specific information below and follow the requirements that apply to you.

  • Anyone arriving or returning from outside the United States will be required to get a PCR test 24 hours prior to departure, per recent U.S.-mandated guidelines. Additionally, students will need to take a rapid test on the day of their arrival to Munras, and take another PCR test four days after their arrival to Munras. Students will be required to quarantine in their rooms until a negative test is confirmed from their fourth-day, post-arrival PCR test. Please submit proof of negative test results in the Munras Canvas course under “Module 1”. You will be able to resubmit the Module 1 assignment, so please start submitting your COVID-19 test results as soon as you get your first COVID-19 test result back. Then, update your assignment submission as you receive subsequent COVID-19 test results, rather than waiting to submit all of your COVID-19 test results at once.
  • New residents or returning Munras residents who have traveled outside of the Monterey Peninsula during the winter break, will be required to provide proof of a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to returning to Munras Housing. Students will also be required to take a COVID-19 rapid test on the day of their arrival. Lastly, students will be required to get a PCR test four days after their arrival to Munras. Students will be required to quarantine in their rooms and attend classes online until a negative result is confirmed from all tests.
  • Returning students who have stayed in Munras for the entirety of break will be required to take a rapid COVID-19 test as soon as the tests become available to the Munras residence hall. Please submit proof of a negative test result in the Munras Canvas course under Module 1.

We hope to have a limited supply of KN95 masks and COVID antigen rapid tests available for the use of Munras Housing residents in the very near future, and will communicate how they will be distributed once they arrive.

As a reminder, all members of the campus community, including residents of Munras Housing, are required to have their COVID-19 booster by January 28, 2028, or 6 months after completing your primary COVID-19 vaccination series. If you will still be in the 6-month waiting period onJanuary 28, please contact Ashley Arrocha (aarrocha@middlebury.edu) to let her know.

If you test positive for COVID-19, follow these steps.
