Campus Notes

Dear MIIS Campus Community,

Our return-to-campus team is busy finalizing our plans and policies for fall semester. We are using California Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to inform our policies for in-person, on-site activities. Look for a detailed announcement by July 1 that will outline final guidelines for fall semester. We will also update our return-to-campus website with details at that time. As always, you can access previous messages on our return to campus website.

Do You Have Your COVID-19 Vaccine? Just a reminder that the COVID-19 vaccine is mandatory for all Institute faculty, staff, and students for the fall 2021 semester, as laid out in our May 2021 announcement. The deadline to be fully vaccinated and either provide verification or submit an exemption request is Monday, August 16.  The Monterey County Department of Health and the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula are both good resources for finding sites and appointments for the vaccine. We’ll share details on how to provide vaccine verification soon. You may now reference our COVID-19 vaccine policies and resources, including how to request an exemption, on our vaccine policy webpage. Students (including International students) who plan to seek vaccination upon arrival in Monterey will be able to participate remotely in their courses until they are fully vaccinated, if necessary.

Fall Student Commitment Survey: We will be conducting a fall commitment survey of all new and continuing students beginning July 1. This survey is more binding than the April student intention survey and will provide us with critical information needed to plan for fall semester. Students, please be on the lookout for a unique link that will be sent to your middlebury.edu email on July 1. You will have until July 15 to complete this survey notifying us of your fall enrollment plans. We envision having a vibrant campus this fall and look forward to seeing you back as part of our community. We also understand that some of you may be unable to be in Monterey for personal or professional reasons. Please be sure to complete the survey so that we can support you in your educational and professional goals. If you are still uncertain about your options, please reach out to your academic advisor (continuing students) or your enrollment advisor (newly admitted students).

Sincerely,

Jeff Dayton-Johnson

VP of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Institute
