You are invited to attend the ASILOMAR ‘24 Festival – a vibrant event that is organized by the editors of the “Literary America” almanac, with generous support from the Russian Library and Cultural Center (Sacramento) and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (Monterey). The event organizers support a peaceful resolution to the war in the Ukraine and hope to share the cultural heritage of both Russians and Ukrainians to promote understanding of their cultures.
Since 2015, the “Literary America” almanac has served as a charitable, non-profit, and completely independent platform dedicated to supporting contemporary authors writing in Russian around the world. Our unwavering goal is to showcase their work with objectivity and warmth, fostering their full participation in the global literary landscape. The festival, taking place on March 22 & 23, 2024 (Friday 5PM - 9PM and Saturday 11AM - 3PM) promises a captivating program featuring authors of prose, poetry, and non-fiction.
In addition, two extraordinary exhibitions will be on display: a literary exhibition commemorating the anniversary of Pyotr Ershov, the celebrated author of “The Little Humpbacked Horse” and an exhibition of paintings and graphics by contemporary artist Igor Ponochevny, offering a compelling “Portrait of the Era”.
The festival will reach its crescendo with unforgettable performances by talented musicians and singers. Beyond the program, guests will savor delicious food and cherish the opportunity for open, enriching conversations.
Join us for this celebration of joy and hope.
