Speaker Steedman Hinckley served seven presidents analyzing and advising on Soviet/Russian affairs at the White House, the departments of state and defense, the US embassy in Moscow, and the intelligence community in analytical and operational roles. He served on the national intelligence council and the policy planning staff at State, and was executive secretary of three binational commissions with Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. He retired in 2023 as a charter member of CIA’s senior analytic service. He holds a B.A. in Russian and Soviet Studies from Wesleyan University and an M.Phil. in policy analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
