Open to the Public

As described, the film screening is a part of the Critical Issues Forum conference. The students presentations part that will conclude by around 12:30 pm on the same day is not open to public, while open to MIIS community and invitation only.

This event features the film The Bomb, created by Smriti Keshari, an award-winning Indian-American filmmaker, director, writer, and artist known for her bold and groundbreaking storytelling. The Bomb is a critically acclaimed documentary that places viewers at the center of the story of nuclear weapons, exploring their immense power, perverse allure, and the profound death wish at their heart. Combining archival footage, animation, music, and text, the film offers a visceral and unsettling experience, taking audiences inside the complex cultural and technological world of nuclear weapons. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Smriti Keshari, moderated by Dr. William Potter, Founding Director of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. This event is part of the Critical Issues Forum’s international high school conference on nuclear disarmament and the role of youth in promoting a world free of nuclear weapons.
