OPEN Discussion: Cancel Culture

The topic for the Fall 2019 OPEN: DisMIISsing prejudice session is Cancel Culture. This modern
internet phenomenon describes a form of boycott from a critical mass of people who are quick to
judge someone’s (usually a celebrity) questionable or unpopular opinion or behavior, and quickly
shut down any discourse on the issue. Join us in this collaborative exercise to examine the impact of cancel culture on diversity, equity, and inclusion as it relates to our campus and our role in the world outside of MIIS.
