The MIIS Shotokan Karate class trains in traditional Japanese Karate-Do and is open to all MIIS students, including those who are here for the summer only. Training includes basics (kihon), form training (kata), and sparring (kumite). Training develops physical strength, flexibility, endurance, stamina, self-discipline and self-defense. No experience necessary! Wear workout clothes or a White Karate Gi, Please do not wear jewelry and strong perfume. Bring a water bottle – you’ll sweat and need to hydrate.
Taught by a local certified Shotokan Karate instructor. Offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm in the McGowan Wellness Space.
