Professor Schneider-Stocking has been working as a freelance translator and interpreter since 1990. Her fields of specialization include business, law, medicine, computer software and hardware, biotechnology, and localization. She has also interpreted for members of various German ministries, political organizations and the German Parliament. She is a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), the American Translators Association (ATA) and the Northern California Translators Association (NCTA), and is a seminar and conference interpreter for the United States Department of State.

Teaching at MIIS gives her a chance to pass her passion of language to others. In her translation courses, special attention is placed on the nitty-gritty aspects of translating by delving into linguistic details and collaborating as a team to discuss multiple solutions and find the best options. Students will learn practical skills they will need as professional translators to work with clients and other translators.
