Innovation in the Field: the Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics

The Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics publishes research related to the theory and practice of applying economic perspectives to the understanding of ocean and coastal resources and to coastal areas as economic regions.
The Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics (JOCE) is a peer-reviewed, open access online journal that publishes research on the theory and practice of economics as applied to ocean and coastal resources and the role these resources play in regional and national economies.
Until JOCE, those wishing to share research in this field (outside of fisheries) have used outlets that specialized in economics, but were not specific to oceans and coasts. JOCE is the first in this growing field. Upholding the CBE commitment to open access, the journal is freely available to all: there are no fees to authors or readers. Contracting with the Middlebury Institute’s world-class translators, JOCE will provide abstracts of all papers in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
JOCE fosters a community of innovation ocean and coastal (blue) economic thinking: from defining and measuring the blue economy as statistics related to GDP, to an information system that provides decision makers with the facts they need around marine ecosystem service flows and changes.
Dr. Charles S. Colgan, Director of Research at the Center for the Blue Economy serves as Editor-in-Chief and is assisted by the distinguished Editorial Board.
