Felix Akinboyewa

I am a doctoral student and graduate assistant studying Political Science with a concentration in Conflict Analysis and Management at Kent State University, Ohio. I hold a Master of Science degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at the National Open University of Nigeria. I grew up in Nigeria where violent conflicts are the order of the day. I crave for peaceful Nigeria and Africa, where development abounds, and I believe that peacebuilding efforts would make the world worth living. My professional work focuses on Countering Violent Extremism through Prison Peacebuilding Initiative, emphasizing the deradicalization of Violent Extremists. My research interests include Peacebuilding, Countering Violent Extremism, Human Rights, Deradicalization, and digital/emerging technologies in counterterrorism.

I worked as the Head of the Treatment Team of the deradicalization program of Violent Extremists at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Agodi Custodial Centre, Nigeria. I was responsible for developing and organizing rehabilitation and reintegration programs for the violent extremist offenders in the Oyo State Command of Nigerian Correctional Service. Attending the Summer Peacebuilding Program would help me towards my professional career and academic research journey.
