Julie Reynolds Martinez

Julie Reynolds Martinez is a freelance investigative journalist and researcher in criminal justice and a co-founder of the bilingual nonprofit news site, Voices of Monterey Bay. She is the author of “Blood In The Fields” (Chicago Review Press), a book documenting the lives of young gang members in California’s Salinas Valley that was a finalist for the 2015 International Latino Book Award. Her writing and reporting have appeared on PBS, NPR, Discovery Channel, The NationMother JonesThe Monterey County Herald and other outlets. Reynolds was previously a staff reporter for the Center for Investigative Reporting and she was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, class of 2009.
