I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I am the youngest of five children, and in adult life continue to enjoy my extended family. I am widowed and have two adult children. I graduated from CSU, Fullerton with a Bachelor’s degree in History. I earned a Masters of Divinity degree through the Melbourne College of Divinity while studying at St. John’s College in Auckland, New Zealand. My career has been dedicated to serving in the ordained ministry of The Episcopal Church. Since 2007 I have served as Bishop of the Diocese of El Camino Real here on the Central Coast of California. I find meaningful work in helping church communities effectively live out their spiritual purpose. I have visited churches in other parts of the world and explored the diverse ways that communities can intentionally develop not only through healthy religious and spiritual practice, but also mediation, community organizing and relationship building across difference. These encounters have encouraged me to develop my skills in order to be a more effective leader in the practice of peacebuilding. In addition to hiking, I enjoy horseback riding, cooking and travel.
