I may be the only person you know from North Dakota. I get that a lot. Aside from being born there and living there currently, I’ve also moved across the U.S. my whole life. Through all the moving around, there was only one thing that was constant in my life: I felt like I had a calling. I remember the first time I studied Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in first grade and immediately knowing that I was destined to work in the extension and protection of human rights. Years later, I am a rising junior at Middlebury College, pursuing a degree in International and Global Studies with a focus in Latin American. I’m studying abroad in Chile next spring with the Human Rights Program at the Universidad de Alberto Hurtado and am working with my advisor to secure a human rights internship in Brazil the preceding winter. At Middlebury, I am the captain of the rugby team as well as the president of our Amnesty International chapter. With my passion for human rights as the driving force in my life, I am excited to gain skills at SPP that will set my future career in social justice into motion.
