Miao Hong (Maggie) is a freelance conference interpreter and translator. Her clients include international organizations, government departments and agencies, institutions, and corporations. Ms. Hong is a federal court professionally qualified Mandarin interpreter, state court certified Mandarin interpreter, and National Board certified Mandarin medical interpreter, and also has a wide range of experience helping those in need through community interpreting. She is a frequent presenter at interpretation and translation conferences, addressing topics ranging from remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) to interpreter credentials and certifications. As an advocate of the profession, she is an active participant in professional associations and had served in the roles of vice-chair, board director, and leadership council member for several national and local associations of interpreters and translators. Prior to joining MIIS, she was an adjunct instructor teaching interpretation and translation courses at Hunter College’s Master degree program.

Areas of Interest

Miao Hong has always been passionate about interpreting, translation, and teaching. As a practitioner for over 10 years, she hopes to bring her experience and lessons to her students, helping them improve their skills and familiarizing them with industry trends and market needs. Her recent research interests include RSI and interpreter training.
