I live in Japan and since I attend the seminar of Dr. Galtung in 2016, I have been inspired by Peace studies theory. During high school, I’ve been to Cambodia as volunteering at local public health NGO and, I felt how the insufficiency of social service lags behind their ‘development for peace’. And I started to have an interest in negative historical heritage, such as ‘killing field’ or Toul Sleng Genocide Museum because I had not clear imagine the opposite of ‘peace’ in a real situation until a visit there. After returning to Japan, I started a survey on the medical system in Cambodia and visited Cambodia again for a field survey. Through Cambodia of study, violence on the one hand that would easily break the social infrastructure in a short period of time, I noticed take a long time to build peace. Now I am majoring in IR and MENA regional study at Uni, especially interest in reconciliation in fragile states, such as Yemen. And I was abroad in Sweden for studying Peace and development study. I’m looking forward to meeting new people at SPP.
