Nykole Sakihara

I am a second year International Policy and Development graduate candidate at MIIS. I grew up in Los Angeles with my two brothers and childhood dog. As my mother tells it, I always had a flair for the dramatics. So, it was no surprise when I graduated from CSU Channel Islands with a degree in Performing Arts. After college, I joined the Peace Corps, living and working in the Kyrgyz Republic for two years. It was in the Peace Corps that I discovered a passion for human rights while conducting a self-esteem workshop for young women across the country. Fast forward to the present where I hope to blend the arts with conflict resolution and social justice work. Plus, as a barista, I can make you a mean cup o’ joe.
