M.A. - American Studies, City University of New York

I am finishing my degree in American Studies at the City University of New York where I’ve completed coursework in literature, art, and education. Concurrently, I am completing a certificate in Interactive Technology and Pedagogy through CUNY and a certificate focusing on mindfulness, conflict, and education through the University of Toronto. My MA research traces futurities through disability studies, transnational and postcolonial feminisms, queer and trans of color critique. I’ve often investigated sites of disability, debility, and trauma through histories of colonialism, public health, and incarceration. These interests have also led me to ask what coalitional potential there is for radical, community care. Other areas of ongoing interest and emergent research include adult literacy education and literacy crisis, critical refugee studies, community education, maker pedagogies, and teaching in corrections. For the last four years, I’ve worked in an adult literacy program in New York City, supporting adult students working towards obtaining a High School Equivalency diploma or English proficiency. As a first-generation high school and college graduate from New York, I believe deeply in public education and am proud to have a BA in English and women, gender, & sexuality studies from CUNY— Hunter College.
