Dr. Whitney Sherman is a scholar-practitioner of global learning and intercultural exchange. As the founder and lead consultant of Intercultural Adventures LLC, Dr. Sherman works with individuals and institutions to strengthen intercultural learning initiatives through gap year counseling, teacher training, and curriculum development. Prior to launching her consulting company, Dr. Sherman oversaw study abroad and global internships for the University of Southern California and Boston University. Dr. Sherman was also privileged to be involved in building USC International Academy, a prestigious ESL pathway program for international students from over 30 countries. Prior to her career in higher education, Dr. Sherman managed educational programming for a local NGO in Niamey, Niger, West Africa and taught English in France, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland.

 

Dr. Sherman is passionate about designing and supporting learning experiences outside of traditional schooling systems. As a recognizable force in the gap year and alternative education movement, Dr. Sherman uses her scholarly expertise and personal educational experiences to publish academic articles, admissions publications, and blog posts relating to intercultural and progressive education.
