I am a rising senior at Yale College majoring in Global Affairs – International Security. I was born and raised in Nepal and grew up with a lot of international influences as my parents worked in tourism and diplomacy, laying a foundation for my interest in international politics. After 10th grade, I attended high school in Norway in an international school with students from over 90 different countries. This experience significantly shaped the way I viewed the world and broadened my horizons exponentially, something I hope to further gain through this program. Moreover, after living through a decade long civil war in Nepal, I have always been fascinated and passionate about conflict resolution and peace building as an academic and professional field. At Yale, I study international security through a specialized major at the Jackson Institute of Global affairs and have taken classes on everything from Middle East politics to Nuclear Politics. Through this program, I hope to gain a more practical and nuanced understanding of both local and international peacebuilding and I am extremely interested to learn from not only the experts but also my fellow participants!
