Campus Notes

Campus Readiness Update - Classroom Ventilation: Facilities continues to work with a contracted mechanical engineer and industrial hygienist to evaluate the ventilation, air circulation, and outdoor air in all campus classrooms. Based on their recommendations, adjustments are being made to assure that current COVID-19 guidelines are met for a safe environment for the fall 2021 semester and beyond.

Fall Student Intention Survey: Thanks to continuing students who completed the fall intention survey. Results are being shared with program chairs and Institute academic leadership. Your responses help us plan for a safe and orderly return to campus this fall.

Summer and Fall Schedules: The summer and fall schedules will be published today, and the first wave of registration tickets starts on April 27. Please note that this year the fall schedule will continue to be fine tuned as (we hope and expect) COVID-19 conditions improve. If you have registration questions, please be sure to connect with your academic advisor or program chair.

Spanish Community Interpreting Workshops On Campus this June: The final interpreting workshops for the Professional Certificate in Spanish Community Interpreting will be held in-person on our Monterey campus this June. This decision signals positive progress toward the gradual reopening of campus in the coming months. Faculty and students in the program will be following strict guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all participants, including masking, social distancing, and wearing IDs at all times while on campus.

Vaccines Now Available for 16 Years and Above: Effective yesterday (April 15), everyone in Monterey County 16 years of age and above is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. The Monterey County Department of Health and the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula are both good resources for finding sites and appointments for the vaccine.

We hope you have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

Jeff Dayton-Johnson

VP of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Institute
