CNS Expert Quoted on Continuing U.S.-Russian Arms Control Talks
Senior research Associate Miles Pomper of the Monterey Institute’s James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies was quoted by two publications this week commenting on the prospects for a successful near-term conclusion of the much-delayed START treaty renewal talks between the United States and Russia.
Global Security Newswire, a publication associated with the National Journal, quoted Pomper in a January 7 piece titled “START Talks Seen Casting Shadow on NPT Review Conference.” Pomper comments that he would be “astonished” if the talks were not successfully concluded prior to the Nonproliferation Treaty review conference in May.
The Hurriyet Daily News & Economic Review, a leading English daily in Turkey, quoted similar comments from Pomper’s interview with the French news service Agence France-Presse in an article titled “Experts: Russia nuke deal in weeks, maybe months”.
