U.S. Congressman Sam Farr, Peace Corps representative Janet Allen, and Monterey Institute faculty, staff, and students gathered on November 5 to celebrate the Fisher International MBA program’s 15 years of participation in the Peace Corps Master’s International program.
As a result of this spring‘s Memorandum of Understanding between the Monterey Institute and the American University in Cairo (AUC), AUC will host a January session of the Institute‘s popular DPMI training.
This past summer, four Monterey Institute students served as Peace Fellows for the Advocacy Project, working on such diverse issues as women’s reproductive rights in Nepal and helping families of victims in Peru find closure through forensic anthropology.
The greatest hope of Bishnu Adhikari (MAIEP ’07) is that the humanitarian development work he and his colleagues undertake will someday make international aid unnecessary: “I hope one day to be out of a job!”
Twelve students from Shandong University participated in a simulation of China’s accession to the World Trade Organization as part of a special summer training course in trade and development at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
