Toni M Thomas is the Associate Dean of Academic Operations at the Middlebury Institute. Toni previously served as an Assistant Dean of the Graduate School of International Policy and Management, as Program Director of the MBA in Global Impact Management program, and has recently also served as Program Chair for the MPA, International Policy & Development, and International Trade programs concurrent with her Associate Dean duties. She started her career at the Institute as an MBA Academic Advisor and has a wealth of institutional knowledge and has been key in shepherding through organizational change through the years. 

She holds a BBA from University of Toledo, OH, and an MBA from the Institute, where she focused on Cross-Cultural Marketing and International Marketing Research. Toni served as a Small Business Advisor with the US Peace Corps in Costa Rica. She has prior experience in the hospitality industry, interactive television, banking, and wine industry, prior to building her career in higher education.

Her current role as Associate Dean of Academic Operations encompasses the day-to-day operational delivery of the degree programs and certificates at the Institute. Toni collaborates with Program Chairs and faculty on curriculum design and program development and delivery; oversees curated degree plans for students entering Institute programs via a myriad of partner agreements; collaborates with academic and career advisors to address student issues; and, oversees the academic probation program and counsels those students needing support. She also provides expertise and guidance on transitional planning when programs make curricular changes. Her prior experience with accreditation management for the former MBA program is key to implementing change in ways that are in accordance with best practice in change management.

Toni recently has been focused on developing a suite of academic resources to better support students in their efforts towards academic success.
