Cornelia Janke is an international education and development professional who, for over 25 years, has helped to manage change in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America / Caribbean. Ms Janke’s primary technical focus has been on positive youth development and livelihood programming. While developing, managing, and evaluating such work in places such as Afghanistan, Haiti, Rwanda, Kosovo, Timor Leste, and South Sudan, she developed a commitment to education in crisis and conflict. In these contexts and beyond, Janke’s core interest has been in creating effective linkages between policy and practice through the use of research, communication, and collaborative learning. Between 2014 and 2025 Janke developed and managed professional learning networks for USAID and its partners. Beginning with the USAID Education in Crisis and Conflict Network, and then moving toward management of two additional education networks—USAID’s Global Reading Network, and Higher Education Learning Network, Janke helped promote knowledge generation and sharing among practitioners, policymakers, and researchers related to USAID’s education priorities. Ms. Janke has an MPA with an emphasis in International Education and Monitoring and Evaluation from The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. She speaks English, German, Spanish and French.

Areas of Interest
Ms Janke enjoys spending time outdoors, including camping, hiking, kayaking, playing with her dog and just being. She loves all kinds of music and learning about our miraculous planet and its inhabitants. She brings these loves and her professional experience to her teaching. They manifest in a curiosity about the world, a commitment to helping others, and a joy in making meaning with her fellow humans.
