Lisa Donohoe Luscombe, MA TESOL, is Academic Coordinator and Curriculum Specialist for Custom Language Services, Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS).

She has extensive experience in curriculum development and teaching in English language and intercultural communication in the context of international relations issues, including diplomacy, nonproliferation, international trade, and other high-level content areas. She also develops online courses and holds a certificate in online teaching from the Online Learning Consortium and a certificate from the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication.

An educator and language specialist for more than 30 years, Ms. Luscombe has provided teacher-training workshops for Tomsk Polytechnic University in Russia and for high school teachers from Russia’s closed cities; she has developed English language curricula for diplomats in Custom Language Services at MIIS, the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, and the Korean National Diplomatic Academy; and she has trained visiting scholars from the ministry of foreign affairs and academia from a variety of countries for more than 12 years while at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at MIIS. She has worked with professional-level students from Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union, the Caucasus, India and Pakistan, the Middle East, Africa, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Haiti, and others.
