Dr. Sam Jackson is a Senior Research Fellow on Antigovernment Extremism at CTEC. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security at the University at Albany and an Associate Member of VOX-pol, an EU-funded network of excellence on violent online political extremism.

His research focuses on antigovernment extremism in the U.S., conspiracy theories, extremism online, and contentious activity on the internet more broadly. His book, Oath Keepers: Patriotism and the Edge of Violence in a Right-Wing Antigovernment Group, was published by Columbia University Press in 2020. He has also published in Terrorism and Political Violence; Media, War & Conflict; and Lawfare, among other places. He is widely quoted in national and international media about antigovernment extremism, and he has also testified before Congress to testify about this contemporary problem.

Jackson holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Syracuse University, an M.A. from the University of Manchester, and a B.A. from the University of Tennessee.
