You can study full time or part time and adjust your course load from semester to semester as needed. Full-time students will complete the program in three semesters; part-time students can take between two and five years to graduate.
Professional Experience before You Graduate
You will engage with key research and theory in the field and partner with professionals throughout your program. Through informational interviews, guest speakers, events, and alumni networking, you will gain deeper perspectives of international education. In project-based courses, you will work closely with professors and international education organizations on real-world consulting projects, including marketing, recruiting, program design, and assessment. You’ll also develop a website to showcase your work and build technical skills like budgeting and survey design. Electives help customize your studies to your professional interests.

Thesis or Practicum
You may conduct original research for a required thesis on an international education topic of your choosing.
Alternatively, you may gain professional experience through the practicum, working with study abroad programs, colleges and universities, youth exchange programs, ESL or language programs, and government agencies around the world.

Joint MPA/MA in International Education Management
If you’re interested in a professional career at the intersection of education, development, and international exchange, you can earn both a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a Master of Arts in International Education Management. You’ll gain practical skills and tools while building in-depth management competencies for educational programs in a globalized world. The Joint MPA/MA in International Education Management is a four-semester program.
