Paying Your Tuition

Middlebury Institute provides several options for paying your tuition and accepts many methods of payment.

Accessing Your Bill

The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey uses Nelnet Campus Commerce to provide electronic billing and payment services. Students access their bill and account information online; no paper billing statements are mailed.

What to Expect

Students will receive an email notification to their Middlebury email from the Student Financial Services office when their electronic bill is ready to view at Nelnet. Use the ‘make a payment’ link in the email notification to access your account and log in with your Middlebury credentials. Fall bills are first sent to students by email in late-August and Spring bills are first sent to students by email in late-January.

New students will not receive an electronic bill or see tuition charges on their Nelnet account until they have registered for classes.

Helpful tip: Set up your parents, guardians, or a third party as an authorized party (if needed) during initial login, so they can create their own account and have access to view the bill and make payments on your behalf.

Submitting Payment

You can make a tuition payment by check, credit card, or wire transfer. Please note that tuition is due in full by the first day of class each semester.

Pay Online

You can make an online payment through Nelnet Campus Commerce. Once logged into Nelnet, students and their authorized parties can view the bill and make payments safely and securely using:

  • Electronic Check: Complete an electronic bank transfer to make payment. There is no fee for this payment.
  • Credit and Debit Card: Nelnet adds a service fee to all credit and debit card transactions. The service fee is nonrefundable.
  • Wire Transfer: International wire transfer payments can be made in your Nelnet account through Convera. If you would like to make a domestic funds wire transfer payment, please email the Office of Student Financial Services at miisfinaid@middlebury.edu for assistance.

Pay by Check

Please make checks payable to Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
