David Wick and Alex Roman at NAFSA Conference in 2019
Professor David Wick, Alexandra Roman MAIEM ‘20 and colleagues at the NAFSA Region 12 Conference.

International Education Management student Alexandra Roman MAIEM ’20 and Professor David Wick, along with two professional colleagues, presented a session entitled Whole Student Wellness: Supporting Intersections Between Health and Identity Abroad at the 2019 NAFSA Region 12 Conference.

The workshop helped participants to explore the relationship between wellness and identity in order to better support students before, during, and after studying abroad. Roman reflected, “I am so grateful to Dr. David Wick, my professor, who had asked if I wanted to join his session on Whole Student Wellness after I expressed my interest in inclusion, diversity, and equity in education abroad. Researching and putting the presentation together with him, Julie Santos, and Alexander Gabriels was amazing. I learned so much from them and also about myself. Being at the conference, meeting so many supportive and interesting people, and presenting a session – which was nominated for Best of Region 12 – couldn’t have been a better experience.”
