Dr. Jeffrey Lewis and a team of students noticed the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Google Maps hours before it was officially announced, the Washington Post reports.
Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies professor Dr. Jeffrey Lewis and a team of Middlebury Institute research assistants and graduate students at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies observed an armed Russian vehicle unit lined up near Belgorod on radar imagery from Capella Space, which prompted them to investigate Google Maps data.
